Hello 👋🏼 beautiful souls! Hard to believe that March is already here, right? l like to think of this time of year as a time of renewal and new beginnings, whether that means cleaning your house, getting rid of some old stuff that you don’t want or need, learning something new, going back to school, or maybe even redecorating.
But over the last few years, I have started to turn my attention to myself and the renewal of my mind, body, and soul. I really started asking myself "what makes me comfortable?" I'm so used to doing things for my children, family, co-workers, and others, that I don't do a whole lot for myself.
When March comes around, we tend to focus more on the busy busy busy and do do do. Why not take a step back to reflect and focus on what we are grateful for and how much we are blessed. Then make the shift to caring for yourself...remembering to be grateful but not forgetting about some of the little things that make you feel happy, loved, and cared for; if no one else is doing that for you, then by all means, do it for yourself!
Try some of these things for starters:
Sitting outside more often on a nice day or even when it's gently raining
Taking a mindful pause, with long deep cleansing breaths a few times per hour, gently closing your eyes on the inhale, and dropping your shoulders on the exhale
Playing some ambient sounds and setting your environment with mood lighting and soft essential oils in a diffuser, just before winding down for the day, preferably at bedtime
Making yourself your favorite dish and drink for no particular reason other than they're your favorites!
It doesn't have to be something grandiose that you need to do, just start small, and you will be amazed at the difference of focus on yourself as you turn inward. And one more thing...smile more when doing these little things, you will see a difference for sure.
And as I close this post, I am reminded of a quote that I have on my email signature at work, "It has long been an axiom of mine that the little things are infinitely the most important". This is a quote by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, a famous writer and physician who created the character Sherlock Holmes. In this quote, he encapsulates the idea that the seemingly insignificant aspects of life hold tremendous significance.
So, embrace the now, embrace you...fully.
Sending you light always,✨
Natalie
